Giant Drag

Annie Harding and Micah Calabrese are two Los Angeles musicians who began playing music together somewhere around 2002 or 2003. They home-recorded a cover of Journey's "Who's Crying Now" and then decided it was time to form the two piece band now known as Giant Drag. The first 5 song EP Lemona was released in 2003 and is available through Witchita Recordings. The band's first full-length release Hearts and Unicorns came out in 2005 in the US and Feb. 2006 in the UK. It's available on Kickball Records and is the source of today's featured song.

After reading several similar reviews on Giant Drag, I gathered that the live performance is a must-see. Annie supposedly maintains a direct and sometimes abusive dialogue with the audience during their set. With songs like "You Fuck Like My Dad" you can easily imagine the dark humor this band possesses. To hear plenty more check out the Giant Drag website and also the band's MySpace page.
