Boy Omega

Back in April of this year we did a piece on Boy Omega, the rather wonderful musical project of Martin Henrik Gustafsson. The song we featured then, By Midnight We'll Give It A Go, is a firm MML favourite. Since then, Martin has played a string of European dates (for live shows, he is accompanied by an orchestra made up of various of his friends) and has also been working on a new mini-album, "The Grey Rainbow". The seven-track EP will be limited to 1,000 copies, and is set to be released on October 12th through German label Riptide Recordings, and through Stereo Test Kit in November. The song featured here, "Burn This Flag", is the first track on the EP.

In his spare moments between touring and making new music, it would appear that Martin has been putting together a shiny new Boy Omega website, which was unveiled only a few hours ago, as I got started on this write-up. And very nice it is, too - I suggest you go there and be among the first to have a look around - new features include an online shop where you can get hold of much of the Boy Omega back catalogue (and there's a lot of it - as we mentioned in the previous feature, Martin is pretty prolific when it comes to songwriting and recording!) as well as other merchandise like t-shirts and even handmade wallets. There's also plenty of stuff to download, while you're there, and a video to watch, too.

Boy Omega
will be touring again this autumn, so if you're based in the UK, Germany, Austria or the Netherlands (or if you happen to be passing in September or October), you could do much worse than check out one of the following dates (check the site for more info):

14th Sept - Glasgow, UK, Admiral Bar (Sounds of Sweden)
15th Sept - Coventry, UK, The Tin Angel
16th Sept - The End of the Road Festival, UK (where you can catch previously-featured band Frightened Rabbit on the same day.)
17th Sept - London, UK, Brixton Windmill
18th Sept - Leeds, UK, Brudenell Social Club
20th Sept - Eindhoven, Netherlands, Temporary Art Centre
21st Sept - Köln, Germany, Stereo Wonderland
22nd Sept - Hamburg, Germany, Reeperbahn Festival
13th Oct - Hannover, Germany, Café Glocksee
14th Oct - Münster, Germany, Gleis 22
24th Oct - Wien, Austria, Chelsea
26th Oct - Salzburg, Austria, Argekultur

So, it just remains to tell you that, in addition to the Boy Omega website mentioned above, there is the obligatory Boy Omega MySpace page, for news updates and stuff to listen to & download. Oh, and we have a bonus track for you, by the way: Boy Omega covering The Magnetic Fields, something that you really shouldn't miss...

MP3: Burn This Flag
Bonus MP3: Papa Was A Rodeo (Magnetic Fields cover)
