Sprites

Washington, DC-based Sprites has been the musical project of Jason Korzen since the demise of his previous band, Barcelona in 2002. A full-length Sprites album, Starling, Spiders, Tiger and Sprites came out in early 2003 after Jason spent the preceding winter holed up in his basement working on demos. After the difficulties he'd already experienced collaborating with other people in his previous band, Jason made the decision that Sprites would have a continually changing lineup: not a backing band, exactly, but (according to the bio on the Sprites website) "a group of friends who could come together in different arrangements, write songs together, perform, and hang out".

Sprites released a six-song EP, Bionic Hands (of which this song is the title track), in 2004 on the Spanish label Lejos Discos and spent most of 2005 working on their forthcoming album, Modern Gameplay, due to be released on 4th September on Darla Records - you can pre-order it from them here for $12.00 USD plus shipping. There's also a Sprites track, George Romero, included on the Darla double-CD compilation Little Darla Has A Treat For You - which, with 36 songs for a bargain $6.99 (again, plus shipping), has got to be worth checking out.

There's a few more songs to hear and download on the band's website, and also on their MySpace page. Check both out for news and updates on future releases and shows.

This is lovely, lovely stuff. I like.
